From Costa Rica to Panama
Thursday morning me and Lars said goodbye. He left to go back home to Sweden and I got on a bus to Bocas Del Toro in Panama. This is also a place I were before when I was travelling so I was really looking forward to see how the place was today, this was my paradise, I hope I can still call it that.
To go from Puerto Viejo to Panama you first have to take the 2 hour busride to Sixaola, it´s the city next to the border. Then you have to go through customs, pass over an old bridge over to Panama, check in with their customs, take a taxi to Almirante, it´s about one hour drive and will cost you about $20 so if you´ll go, try find someone to split it with. It´s very common to pass the boarders at Sixaola so the locals are always trying to make money out of the tourists so don´t listen to the first cab offer you get, ask around to get the price down.
When you get to Almirante you take the $4 boat ride over to Bocas Del Toro, it´s about 20 minutes.
It´s a bit tricky but there is no problem, the trip is worth it, believe me!
The boarders of Costa Rica, lot of people crossing today
The line went on forever
